Subjects Taught
Fourth Grade

I attended UTM where I received my bachelor's degree.  I received my Master's degree from Union University.

I have been teaching for 25 years and absolutely love it!  I taught 20 years in K-2 primary and 5 years in 4th grade.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade.  I taught 5 years in Nongraded developmental school (K-2nd).  I had 6 kindergartners, 6 first graders, and 6 2nd graders.  I kept them for 3 years.   I learned a tremendous amount during this time.  I truly believe in developmental activities and in learning by doing.  I try to make my classroom fun and exciting while educational.  I strive to teach my students to believe in their own abilities and reach for leadership positions.  I continue to learn every day from other teachers and from my students.  I believe that I am never too old to learn something new.

I have two children.  Heather is 27 and owns a house on Mud Island in Memphis.  She is employed with Syngenta Chemical as a Campaign Lead. Heath is 22 and is attending UTM where he is majoring in Chemistry.  He plans to attend pharmacy school.  My husband of 32 years is Lyn.  He is a farmer and a USDA Inspector at Jimmy Dean Foods.

I enjoy photography, spending time with family, and teaching my students.  I enjoy teaching as much (if not more) than I did years ago.  I am currently an ELA Common Core Coach through the State Department. I have learned a lot and enjoy sharing the knowledge I have learned with others.  I feel that I have been blessed with a wonderful family, great friends at school, and wonderful students.  I look forward to going to school every day.
